    Barney The Dinosaur
Barney T. Dinosaur (or simply just Barney) is a two hundred million year old purple tyrannosaurus rex, who comes to life through a child’s imagination. He is best known for his friendly, optomistic (and even generous) personality and his positive attitude. His theme song is the “Barney Theme Song” (or “Barney is a Dinosaur”). Barney likes most kinds of food, but his favorite is a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, assumingly with Pumpernickel bread, which is his favorite bread. Every episode of Barney the Dinosaur begins with its opener sung to the tune of “Yankee Doodle” and ends with a rendition of “I Love You”, the song that has become a signature of the show.

Sing and Dance with Barney the Dinosaur and Friends

sing and dance barney dvdSing and Dance Barney DVD
For those who can’t get enough of those Barney songs, here’s a made-for-video show packed full of song and dance. The story line is oh-so thin as Barney and his friends sing 27 songs in only 56 minutes, so Barney is usually singing or introducing a new song. For anyone who has been watching the decade that Barney has been on the airwaves, most of the songs are Barney standards: “Mr. Sun,” “The Airplane Song,” “Baby Bop Hop,” and “I Love You.” They are mixed in with all-time favorites “Itsy Bitsy Spider,” “A Camping We Will Go,” and the like. Many of Barney’s original kid friends return looking much older and wiser. No big landmark production here, just a “greatest hits” of Barney tunes that should have fans singing and dancing around the tube for nearly an hour.

    More About Barney the Dinosaur
Barney, with his magenta body complete with a green underbelly and yellow toenails, was created way back in 1987 by Sheryl Leach of Dallas, Texas as an attempt to entertain her son during long car trips barney and friendsand traffic jams.

In the many episodes, Barney’s human friends bring him to life and play many games with him. Aside from many human actors of a highly diverse ethnic mix, Barney’s friends include other plush dinosaurs, such as Baby Bop and her brother, B.J.They sing songs with simple lyrics and typically repetitive melodies that teach the alphabet, counting, etiquette, colors, good friendship, and the value of imagination. Every episode begins with its opener sung to the tune of “Yankee Doodle” and ends with a rendition of “I Love You”, the song that has become a signature of the show, with its melody lifted from “This Old Man”. Trademark sayings associated with the show include Barney’s “Super-dee-duper!”
